15,500 People Campaign

We're kicking off a new initiative... the 15,500 People Campaign.

In 2008, my opponent raised $15,505 for her campaign. While we also sincerely appreciate donations - our campaign is truly about the people of Oak Park, Southfield, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak Township.

Our goal is to meet 15,500 of you living in these areas and hear from you about your concerns regarding your neighborhoods and cities. Who knows best about what your city needs? You do!

As part of this initiative we would love to hear from you even before we come to your town. Please feel free to drop us a message anytime with your ideas and suggestions.

We are looking forward to knocking on your door - and meeting the 15,500 of you who really care about your city.

My Position

1. Cut Government Spending -

Not all government spending is good; in fact much of our tax dollars disappear in endless mismanaged bureaucratic programs. We need to fix this problem.

2. Balanced Budget -

The government checkbook is no different than a private checkbook; when we spend more than we have we must pay a fine. For governments that fine can lead to cutting programs we rely on, for example: post office hours.

3. Low Millage Rates -

The millage is a type of tax. The higher the millage the less appealing our county becomes to current residents as well as potential residents who want to live here but will move elsewhere where millage rates are more affordable.

4. Maintain AAA Bond Rating -

Like a private account if we spend more money than we have we must apply for loans. The bond rating determines the interest rate for those loans. AAA is the highest bond rating, ensuring the lowest possible interest rates when our county does need to take out a loan.
